Who We Are: From Passerby to Flyleaf
We're Flyleaf, a rock band from Belton, Texas. This is the short version of who we are, where the name came from and who is on stage today.
Where did we start?
We formed in Belton in 2002. For the first two years we played as Passerby, and in June 2004 we changed the name to Flyleaf. A year later our self-titled debut album came out.
Who is in the band?
- Lacey Sturm: lead vocals
- Sameer Bhattacharya: lead guitar, backing vocals and keyboards
- Jared Hartmann: rhythm guitar
- Pat Seals: bass and backing vocals
- James Culpepper: drums and percussion
What do we sound like?
Alternative rock and post-grunge, with a heavy edge that gets us called hard rock and alternative metal too. Our songs come back again and again to faith, struggle and resilience, and to the hope on the other side of them.
What will you find in the shop?
Designs that carry the same mood as the music:
- The wordmark: FLYLEAF in big serif letters, on its own or over a band portrait.
- The artwork: engraved figures, birds, a moth on a crescent moon and a green-and-gold serpent.
- The garments: every design comes on tees, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies, with kids' and youth sizes too.
